Stretch your last precious sips of bourbon into this delicious caramel sauce you can pour over anything from ice cream to fresh grilled peaches.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. On medium-high heat, stir together the sugar and water in a heavy-bottomed sauce pan.
  2. Now, do not stir until the sugar has caramelized (you can swirl the pan a couple times).  The mixture will go from clear, to golden and then to a dark shade of amber (caramel). Pay close attention as the caramel darkens quickly. Remove the saucepan from the heat and turn the burner off.
  3. Carefully pour the heavy cream, whisking as you pour (the mixture will bubble up so go slowly).  Whisk in butter, add bourbon and sea sea salt and whisk until smooth. Serve immediately or keep it in the fridge for a week or so.
Pro Tip: The sauce will thicken as it cools, so letting it cool a tad before going over ice cream is best!
