A typical Mantry crate includes a few pantry staples — a sauce, a salt, an oil — plus something sweet, something snackable, and a wildcard. The wildcard is usually the thing he texts you about. Past examples: bourbon brittle from Brooklyn, mesquite-smoked black salt from Texas, hot honey from Vermont, single-origin coffee syrup from Rhode Island, dessert pork rinds from Wisconsin.

These are full-size products, not sample-size cheats. The kind of size he'd actually cook with or finish over a few weeks. Each crate also includes the story of every maker and a few recipes pulled from chefs, so he never has to wonder what to do with what landed on his counter.

You don't pick the products. We pick them. That's the whole point — discovery he wouldn't have gotten any other way.

When will my Mantry gift ship?

Single Mantry crates ship within one business day of your order and typically arrive in 2-5 business days. Gift subscriptions ship the first crate within one business day; subsequent crates ship every two months. For holiday delivery — Father's Day, Christmas, Mother's Day, anniversaries, birthdays — order at least 5 business days before the date you need it to land.

What if the recipient has dietary restrictions?

Each Mantry crate includes six products from six different makers across multiple categories — pantry staples, snacks, sweets, sauces. Most crates are clean-label, real-food products without weird additives. We don't customize crates for specific diets (gluten-free, dairy-free, keto, etc.), but most customers find that the one or two items that don't fit a restriction simply get re-gifted to a family member or friend. The other four or five products usually land just fine.

Can I include a personal gift message?

Yes. Add a personalized gift note at checkout — we'll print it on a custom card and include it inside the crate with the products. For last-minute gifts where the crate won't arrive in time, we also offer a digital Mantry gift card that lands in the recipient's inbox immediately and lets them redeem when ready.

What's in the next Mantry crate?

We don't preview crate contents publicly because half the fun is the discovery moment when he opens it. Past crates have featured makers including Yellowbird Hot Sauce, Bourbon Smoked Pepper, Award-Winning BBQ Sauce, Ground Up Nut Butter, Shotwell Candy, Forward Farms Beef Tallow, and Savage Jerky Co. Every crate is different.

Can I cancel or change a gift subscription?

Yes. Email reggie@mantry.com or use your account login. Gift subscriptions don't auto-renew, so you'll never get a surprise charge. The recipient receives only the crates you paid for.

Is the crate really a real wooden crate?

Yes. Handmade American wood, branded with the Mantry mark, sturdy enough to actually use. Customers report keeping them as desk caddies, bar storage, kitchen shelf décor, and gardening planters years after the food is gone. The crate is half the gift.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

I started Mantry fourteen years ago because I couldn't find a good food gift to send my brother.

Every option I looked at was the same: a generic gift basket of crackers and chocolates from brands you already knew, mostly sitting around to look pretty until somebody finally threw them out. None of it was the actual point of a food gift, which is to introduce somebody to something they wouldn't have found on their own.

So we built Mantry around a single idea: every two months, find six American food makers worth knowing, get their best product, send it in a real wooden crate with the story of who made it. Fourteen years and 12,000+ products later, that's still the entire business.
